Windscape

Brief

The idea begins from creating a tiny dry fountain with wind, interacting with people’s movement. I image it as a movable, digital, internal fountain, and I am curious how much it has to change the character of a space or to construct a space. It is inspired by Japanese dry landscape gardens, which contain their national scenes in a tiny space. The space is limited, but your mind can go far away without any boundaries.

This instrument has more potential when it considers more about the surrounding environment. Instead of looking it from top view, the best way to display it might be its elevation on your eye level, and limited all the other views. The surface movement would be your major focus at that time, and the depth of the space became stronger as the transparent fabric wears away.

Wax painting

Brief:

My start point is about to make a warming when we human being attempted to do something with nature. We should be more cautious and response towards it. So, I hope this installation can convey this idea when people interact with it but also have more fun to play it. When this installation is alone, it emits a voice sounds like “B” per second. When people are closed enough, it produces a loud and frequent noise like alarm, and the metal begins to heat up and wax above starts to melt. Aside this art piece, I prepare several kinds of material with different melting points, which people could adding themselves to make a wax painting. Unlike water, wax recorded all human behaviors to it after it became solid again. The physical process of it is a physical integrated process of different material melting, mixing and transferring, created by the viewer. After the wax painting has done, it could be a gift to the “author” who made. The whole thing condensed the experiment.
